Hello everyone. Today I am excited to announce the launch of a brand-new revision of the Phantoms website. This marks the fifth version of the site, following designs by Carl Lukach, Liza Trafton, and myself. This iteration is the realization of a number of ambitions that I’ve had:
- WordPress core for easy content management
- Completely custom-built WP theme by yours truly
- Commenting and guestbook system with Askimet spam filtering
- Integrated photo gallery based on ZenPhoto
- Customized user profile system
- RSS feeds, email subscriptions, calendar links, etc.
I couldn’t have done this without taking advantage of great code shared by many WordPress and PHP wizards. In particular, Nick La of WebDesignerWall, Dr. Greg Mulhauser of the Threaded Comment Numbering Plugin, James Cridland of the Google Calendar to HTML script, and Remy Sharp of jQuery for Designers all deserve credit for some of the tricks you’ll see on the new site.
Things are still a little rough around the edges and I anticipate refining this design continually. But thanks for checking it out and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Much more importantly, Marisa White will be posting new content as this year’s current Phantoms Web Manager, so check the site as the academic year begins for updates!
